Nanfu Wang
Nanfu Wang is a director of documentary films, known for her captivating 2015 documentary on the life of Chinese gender rights activist Ye-Haiyan, “Hooligan Sparrow”. Wang studied at the University of Shanghai and completed a master’s at Ohio University. She is known for breaking conventional forms of documentary by including part of her own process in her finished products.
She has won a Peabody Award, two South by Southwest (SXSW) Special Jury Prizes, and a grand jury prize at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival for her work.
